Self-storage remains the highest performing commercial real estate asset class. The self-storage REITs have outperformed all other asset classes for years and the market has remained highly resistant to economic downturns. The secret is out and virtually every financial institution has invested in the sector and interest continues to soar. Likewise, private investors are looking to repurpose or construct new buildings to take advantage of this market.
The Storage Business Owners Alliance (SBOA) was created out of necessity in 2008 to help self-storage owners and operators survive the great recession. The SBOA was built by owners for owners. The principals have more than 55 years of combined experience in the industry and have developed, built, managed and sold over 150 properties around the country. We help operators improve revenue and reduce expenses. We have built a strong reputation of helping our fellow operators improve their businesses.
Our reputation precedes us, and we receive several calls each week from people interested in investing in self-storage. Therefore, we decided to create Storage for Rookies to help teach investors about our industry. We will be hosting bi-quarterly events with experts in each category to help educate you on self-storage.Â
